Practical Peacemaking programme
In 2025, RI established a collaborative partnership with the Anglican Church of Kenya (ACK) to support ACK leaders through learning and development programmes. The Practical Peacemaking programme helps participants navigate complex realities of leadership in times of tension and conflict through a peacemaking training programme rooted in Christian faith, conflict transformation insights, and mutual learning.

Our approach
RI's approach in Kenya is to work on a regional basis, beginning by bringing on board a group of Bishops and their spouses, and then training a group of leaders that they sponsor from their dioceses to be equipped to deliver local training.
We launched RI's work in Kenya in October 2025 with a focus on the Mount Kenya region when we hosted a residential conference for Bishops and their spouses from the dioceses of Embu, Kirinyaga, Mbeere, Meru, Mt Kenya Central, Mt Kenya West, Nyahururu and Thika. This was facilitated by a local team from Kenya.
Following their October residential, Bishops from the same group of dioceses nominated 22 experienced leaders to join RI's inaugural Peacemaking Trainers of Trainers course in May 2026. The facilitation team resourced these leaders to be able to offer grass-roots training in handling conflict for others in their dioceses. This group of clergy are now cascading their learning and thus magnifying the local impact.
In October 2026, the next phase of the project will work with a second cohort of Bishops and their spouses, this time from the coastal Tsavo region. This is expected to include the dioceses of Garissa, Kitui, Machakos, Malindi, Mombasa, Mukueni and Taita Taveta. God willing, this will be followed up in 2027 with a training of trainers programme for a group of leaders from these dioceses.
Kenya Project Manager
RI's work in Kenya is being led by our Kenya Project Manager Revd Fedis Nyagah. Fedis is an Anglican priest, a member of the global Church and Community Mobilisation Process (CCMP) master trainer network , and a Girl Child Long Walk Fellow. In her previous role she championed the uptake of CCMP within the Anglican church in Africa and facilitated envisioning forums for new bishops and spouses for transformational leadership in 15 Anglican provinces.
